The Vision is Simple: To explore whether Can-Am Nationals can become a premier annual automotive destination in Winnipeg, bringing classic and custom car enthusiasts together from across Canada and the United States.
A Legacy Worth Exploring
Winnipeg has done this before. The legendary 1974 Can-Am event brought together more than 250 pre-1948 street rods, with participants travelling from across Canada and as far away as California and Texas.
More than five decades later, the automotive community has changed dramatically. There are more enthusiasts, more clubs, more specialty vehicles and a much larger North American collector-car community.
The question is simple: Could Winnipeg once again become the destination for a major Can-Am automotive event?
Why We Are Asking
An event of this scale cannot be built on assumptions. Before approaching potential sponsors, partners, municipalities, tourism organizations and automotive businesses, we need to understand whether there is genuine interest from the people who would actually attend.
This survey is designed to help us understand the potential audience for Can-Am Nationals — where enthusiasts are located, how far they would travel, what they would bring and what they would expect from a major destination automotive event.
The responses will help determine whether there is a strong enough foundation to move forward with developing the concept.
This Is Not Registration
This survey is not a pre-registration. It does not reserve a vehicle space, require a payment or create any obligation to attend Can-Am Nationals.
At this stage, we are simply asking automotive enthusiasts to tell us what they think about the concept and whether they would consider participating if the event becomes a reality.
Your answers are valuable because they provide an indication of real-world interest before significant time and resources are committed to developing the event.
What Could Can-Am Nationals Become?
The long-term vision is a major automotive destination event capable of attracting enthusiasts from across Western Canada, throughout the rest of Canada and from the United States.
That could include a large vehicle display, car clubs, specialty automotive businesses, vendors, automotive attractions, entertainment, food, cruises and other activities that would make Can-Am Nationals more than simply another car show.
But the event should ultimately be shaped by the people it is intended to serve.
